Friday BBQ
F riday night is usually the best evening to ask about local BBQ on Union Island. It is casual, local and simple: ask what is cooking, where people are going, and what is open that week.
Nightlife Rebuilding
N ightlife is still slowly rebuilding after Hurricane Beryl. There are a few fun local bars where visitors may dance, but the old fixed nightlife listings are no longer reliable.
The Restaurants
Union Island’s restaurant scene is recovering step by step. Some older favorites are not open right now, while new local food spots, beach bars and small kitchens are opening again. Use this as a practical guide, then confirm hours directly or ask locally before making a special trip.
Sparrows Beach Club
Sparrows Beach Club is a higher-end beach club and restaurant on a beautiful beach. It is a good option for lunch, drinks and a relaxed beach afternoon.
Dinner should be reserved ahead, because they may not open at night without bookings.
Bougainvilla Restaurant & Bar
Bougainvilla is a comfortable waterfront restaurant and bar in Clifton, good for pizza, evening drinks and food by the water. It is one of the easier central places for visitors to find.
The evening setting by the marina is one of its strengths.
Just Right Restaurant
Just Right is a local restaurant alongside the main road, known for good prices, lunch, dinner, good vibes and straightforward local food.
Ask what is cooking that day and confirm opening times when you arrive.
D-Swing
D-Swing is useful for breakfast, sandwiches, local snacks and cheaper food. It is closed Sunday.
On Friday and Saturday evenings, it is also known for street BBQ chicken, usually until around 7pm.
Chantackair Sherise Restaurant
Chantackair Sherise Restaurant is a useful local food stop near the kite center. Sherise can often customize food, and visitors can chat with her about what is possible if other places are closed.

Thompson Island
Thompson Island is a good choice for fish or lobster BBQ dinners and can also work for lunch. They can pick you up by boat if needed.
Confirm the meal, boat pickup and timing before going.
New Local Bakery
The new local bakery in the back village sells bread, bakery items and snacks at cheap local prices.
It is open every day, including Sunday all day, which makes it useful for simple food and essentials.
Chatham Bay Sunset View
Chatham Bay is one of the best places on Union Island for a sunset meal. The beach has local restaurant spots beside other colorful beach bars, with simple local food, drinks, grilled seafood and a relaxed beach and sailing feeling.
Go for the bay, the sunset and the local atmosphere, then confirm which kitchen is open that day.
Tenuta Chatham Bay Restaurant
Tenuta Chatham Bay’s Calabash Restaurant is the more polished Chatham Bay option, with a beach resort setting, poolside bar, pizzeria and a sunset view over the bay.
It is a good choice when you want a more refined lunch, dinner or drink in Chatham Bay. Reservations may be needed for non-residents.
Joy’s BBQ
Joy’s BBQ is a simple local favorite for grilled food and a real Union Island evening. It is the kind of place to ask about when you want local BBQ, an easy plate and a casual start to the night.

Fruit Market
The fruit market is useful for fresh fruit, simple produce and local shopping in Clifton.
It is also a good reference point when walking around town.
Other local food
There are still small local food spots in Clifton and around the island, and the best option can change by day. Ask your host, taxi driver, boat captain or kite center team what is open and what is cooking.
Eating locally is one of the easiest ways to support Union Island’s recovery.

Happy Island
Happy Island is the famous small island bar and a good sunset drinks stop. It is mainly for drinks, not food.
The kite school can sometimes drop guests off for about 15 EC per person, and a local speed boat can bring you back.
Friday BBQ
Friday night is usually the best evening to ask about BBQ and casual local food. D-Swing is useful on Friday and Saturday evenings, and Joy’s BBQ is another local name to ask about.
Go early, because simple BBQ spots can finish before late evening.
Ask what is open
Union Island nightlife is informal and changes by week. Ask local hosts, boat captains, taxi drivers or the kite center team where people are going that evening.
This is the best way to find music, a local bar or a small beach gathering without relying on old listings.
