Clifton has restaurants, bars, shops and accommodation within walking distance of one another. For a hillside property or a stay farther from town, ask your host about the walk and local transport before you book.
Hotels
If you are coming to Union Island to kitesurf or dive, tell us your plans and we can help you choose where to stay. For a room-style stay close to Clifton and Kite Beach, Mer et Sel Suites offer private suite accommodation with AC, Starlink internet, patio space and easy access to island activities.
Private Villa
For a private villa stay, Mer et Sel has two bedrooms, a full kitchen and a patio overlooking the sea. Ask us about availability and transport for your dates.
Local Guest Houses
Union Island has a few local Guest Houses where you can stay at a discounted rate. These are most suited for backpackers and nicely located in the center of town. Unfortunately it is impossible for us to reserve this kind of stay for you. Contact a guesthouse before traveling to confirm that a room is available, especially when your flight or ferry arrives late.
Updated Union Island accommodation guidance
Union Island is open for guests again while the island continues recovering from Hurricane Beryl. Clifton, Kite Beach and the nearby beach areas are the most practical bases for restaurants, shops, transport, kitesurfing, Tobago Cays trips and local services.
Because accommodation and small businesses are reopening step by step, confirm your room, airport or ferry connection, restaurant plans and activities before travel. A little planning makes the stay easier and helps local operators prepare properly.
Mer et Sel Luxury Villa and Suites
Mer et Sel is near Clifton and Kite Beach. The upper floor is a private two-bedroom villa; the suites below it are separate rooms that can be booked individually.
Mer et Sel Suites
Private suites for couples, solo travelers and kitesurfing guests. Each suite has a private entrance, patio, king-size bed, AC, walk-in bathroom, small fridge, Starlink internet and shared kitchen access.
Mer et Sel Luxury Villa
A private two-bedroom luxury villa with Mayreau and Grenadine views, two king bedrooms, private bathrooms, full kitchen, patio, BBQ space, Starlink internet and daily housekeeping.
Choosing the right area
Clifton
Clifton is the easiest area to stay on Union Island, especially for restaurants, shops, taxis, the harbor, airport access, boat trips and everyday services.
Ashton
Ashton is Union Island’s second town, with local shops and homes away from the busier harbor area in Clifton.
Ashton is located next to one of the kitesurfing spots, but that spot is only accessible by boat. It is also a little further away and can feel a bit far if you plan on coming mainly to kitesurf every day.
Kite Beach and quiet beach stays
Kite Beach is best for kitesurfing guests and fast access to the water. Chatham Bay, Big Sand and other beach areas are better for slower days, views and quiet beach time.
